Hello there and welcome to my digital playground! :)
I’m Julia, a 25-year-old creative who is based in Hamburg, Germany.
I usually stand behind the camera to capture the beauty of the people around me and the places that I visit during my travels. However, every now and then I’m standing in front of the camera, trying my best not to blink, squint or break a sweat.
My current obsession is film photography.
Why would anyone shoot film in 2024? you might ask. And that’s a valid question considering the current film prices. But the price is kind of the point. Every photo costs money, which is why you don’t mindlessly press the shutter. That, and the fact that each roll of film comes with 36 photos only.
I believe that shooting on film is helping me massively as a photographer because I’m trying out different angles and contemplate whether my subject would actually make a good photo before pressing the shutter.
I also stay present because I cannot look at the photos until weeks later, which is always a great surprise. So if you haven’t shot anything on film yet, I highly recommend that you try so you can experience the magic of this medium.
