As a woman, I've been wondering if I will ever get married. If I will ever find my person. Which is also why Daniel Johnston’s song “True Love Will Find You in the End” moves me so much. He sings:
“True love will find you in the end
You’ll find out just who was your friend
Don’t be sad, I know you will
But don’t give up until
True love will find you in the end
This is a promise with a catch
Only if you’re looking can it find you
‘Cause true love is searching too
But how can it recognize you
Unless you step out into the light, the light”
The Wedding Funeral is a tug of war between hope and heartbreak. It’s an ode to the longing we sometimes feel. A longing for touch, intimacy and connection. A longing to be seen, understood, accepted and celebrated for who we are. A longing for a love that stands the test of time.
The Wedding Funeral is also a mourning of a love that never fully blossomed.
